  • Albany Wesley Church invites you to a combined service on Sunday 15 November at 10.00am. The President of the Uniting Church in Australia, Rev Alistair Macrae will be visiting.   • Uniting Church in the City invites you to the Silence and Awareness Retreat: a retreat experience in Christian insight meditation. Featuring the teaching of Christian mystics, led by Mary Jo Meadow, professor from Minnesota State University, USA. Two retreats are offered: weekend of 22-24 January 2010 or 9 day retreat from 22-30 January 2010. Sponsored by Perth Wesley Uniting Church.   • The Mid West Regional Gathering will be held Saturday 14 November at Geraldton Uniting Church.
  • The next Great Southern Regional Gathering will be held Saturday 14 November at Kojonup.

  • Uniting Church Investment Fund (UCIF). The UCIF interest rates current from 14 October 2009 are fixed term 3 months 4.00% (interest on maturity), 6 months 4.25% (interest on maturity) and 12 months 4.5% (interest paid 6 monthly). No minimum investment. For more information contact the Uniting Church Investment Fund on (08) 9260 9800. Please note these rates are not effective as of 14 April, as previously advised.

From the National Church

  • The Uniting Church Bushfire Appeal Disaster Appeal has cracked the $2 million mark. Nine months after Australia’s worst national disaster ravaged the state, donations continue to roll in to support community rebuilding for many left displaced by the Black Saturday bush fires.   • Rev Paul Clark from Burkedin Uniting Church, Queensland, has created a DVD resource for children called Car Park Parables – a collection of stories based on the parables of Jesus but with cars as characters. This resource is being made available to congregations at half price. Ten copies for $5 each plus postage. Schools and Colleges

  • St Stephen’s School Duncraig together with the local congregations of Greenwood, Duncraig and Carine Uniting Churches are holding a Carols by Candlelight event on Saturday 5 December. This will take place on the Primary School Oval, 100 Doveridge Drive Duncraig. Carols commence at 7.00pm, all welcome to bring a picnic dinner from 6.15pm. $2 donation for program and battery operated candle. This will be a community and family event to put in your diary, so come along and enjoy the carols. For more information phone (08) 9447 1111.
  • Do you know of any students going to study at the University of WA in 2010? The Uniting Church chaplain at the University of WA (UWA), Rev Dr Ian Robinson, invites all 2010 UWA students to say g’day on Orientation Day (February 19) or as soon as they arrive in Perth. UnitingCare and Congregational Outreach Activities

  • Good Samaritan Industries will be celebrating the achievements of people with disabilities in Western Australia on December 3 - the International Day of People with Disability with a relaxed lunchtime event. The event will recognise the achievements of GSI staff with the focus on ability rather than disability. The Sarah Potter Awards will be announced. His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC, Governor of Western Australia, Mrs Michael and Rev Ken Williams, Moderator of the Uniting Church in Western Australia and Mrs Williams will be attending.

Ecumenical & International

  • Parkerville Baptist Church invites you to a Reconciliation Seminar on Saturday 5 December from 1.15pm - 4.30pm at the church, 910 Seaborne Street, Parkerville. Rev Sealin Garlett, minister at Maaman ‘O’ Miya Uniting Church and Chair of Uniting Aboriginal & Islander Christian Congress WA will be speaking on ‘Thoughts from an Aboriginal Pastor’. Rev Dr Ian Robinson, UWA chaplain and Co-convenor for the Bringing Them Home Committee will speak on ‘What one Whitefella has learned from walking the Reconciliation Road’. Community

  • Rev Jillian Wilkins is having a stained glass exhibition and sale on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November at 6 Joslin Place, Duncraig from 10.00am to 4.00pm. There will be items large and small on display and sale including lamp shades, window hangings, Christmas ornaments and candle holders. Come and browse, enjoy wine and cheese. All welcome. 20% of sales will go to Amnesty International.
